I
just received my NEW HyperKore Gaming System. How long
should the break-in period be before I install new hardware?
Although your new gaming rig is thoroughly put through
a 72 hour burn-in period after it is built, we recommend
that you run the system for at least another 3 days
before installing any new hardware. This additional
3-day period will allow you to get acquainted with the
system’s factory configuration, before any changes are
introduced. Often technical support issues can be caused
by immediately connecting older hardware to a new system.
When I attempt
to power on my HyperKore Gaming System, nothing shows
up on the monitor.
The most common cause of this problem is a loose monitor
cable. Check the connection from the monitor to the
back of the system. In some rare instances, the video
card or another internal component can be unseated during
transit. The common symptom of an unseated video card
is a series of 4 beeps when you turn the system on.
Please contact our technical support department if you
suspect the problem to be related to a loose part.
What are the
technical support hours and how do I contact tech. support?
Our normal business hours of operation are from Monday
to Friday 10am to 6pm Eastern Standard Time. Technical
support is also available 7 days a week through email
at: support@hyperkore.com. We are closed on all major
holidays. We are more than happy to also schedule support
calls outside of normal Tech support hours.
What drivers
do I need to install?
All of the latest drivers for your hardware have been
installed by HyperKore. We also provide links from hyperkore.com
to manufacturer web sites for easy access to all of
your system’s current drivers.
How can I disable
unwanted programs that load during bootup?
Windows XP includes a very useful utility called the
"System Configuration Editor". To open the
utility, click on the "Start" button and then
click on "Run". Type in "msconfig"
and then click "OK". Click on the "Startup"
tag to view the list of programs which load each time
your system boots. You can eliminate any of these by
removing the check mark from its box.
I'm having
problems with only one game or with all games from the
same company. What can I do?
Game configuration problems are generally a symptom
that can be addressed by the specific game or game manufacturer.
Review the game's read me, help files, website, or technical
support for directions.
How should
I approach setting up peripheral equipment, like a scanner,
zip drive etc…?
Consult the installation directions, which come with
the device. You will want to follow the directions with
one very important exception: Don't install the drivers
from the CD or floppy disk! Always go to the Internet
and check the manufacturer's web site for the current
version of the drivers. Outdated drivers and software
can make the system very unstable. You can avoid these
problems by starting with the newest drivers available.
My computer
makes a lot of noises, should I be concerned?
It is common for the internal fans to make more noise
when you first turn on the system, they will quiet down
when they reach full speed and balance out. The accumulation
of dust may be another reason for the fans to operate
much louder than normal and cause grinding or loud whirring
noises. Cleaning the dust build-up with a can of pure
compressed air can help.
How can I
protect against static electricity damage?
Protecting against static electricity is one of the
most important aspects of a system’s stability. What
most don’t know is that you can use the computer case
itself as a grounding point to discharge static electricity.
The power cord of the computer is essential to accomplishing
this task and must remain plugged in. The third prong
of the power cord is a ground, which acts as a ground
for the entire case. Remember: when the power cord is
unplugged the frame of the case will not be grounded.
Also setting the power switch on the back of the power
supply into the "off" position will prevent
any unwanted starts. To discharge your static electricity
simply touch in the inside metal frame of the case,
near the power supply. Grounding yourself out in this
manner before touching or handling any components will
ensure a proper discharge of static electricity.
How often should I update the drivers on my computer?
You Don’t! We recommend updating drivers only when the
manufacturer states the latest version will fix a particular
problem that is affecting the hardware. If your factory
installed drivers are not causing any issues with your
system’s performance then we recommend leaving the system
in is state of bliss. Updating drivers randomly may
cause unwanted frustration and system instability.
What
demo games are on my computer?
We do not install game demos or full games on your new
HyperKore Gaming System. This is due to the fact that
some customers prefer a clean system with nothing else
installed. Some graphics cards come with several game
demos, which can and will take up valuable hard drive
space. If you wish to install any of the games that
came with your system, they can be found in the back
of your HyperKore User Manual.
How do I remove
the demo games from my HyperKore Gaming System?
You can remove the demo games via the "Add/Remove
Programs" applet in the control panel.
Who can I
ask general questions about my computer?
Us! No one knows more about your HyperKore Gaming System
than us. You can email your questions to support@hyperkore.com
and/or call us toll free at 1.866.640.KORE.
My system is
unstable after I installed a program. What should I
do?
The first step is to uninstall the problematic program.
Unfortunately, uninstalling a program does not always
fix problems the installation caused. If problems persist
after removing the program, please contact our technical
support department for further help.
How can I
tell how much free space is on my hard drive?
Double click on the "My Computer" icon. Right-click
on the hard drive and then click "Properties".
The free space and other information will be reported
here.
Who should
I contact about upgrade information?
The sales department handles all recommendations and
discussions involving the purchase of upgrades from
our company. You can contact them via e-mail at sales@hyperkore.com
or toll free at 1.866.640.KORE.
What utility software do you recommend?
Anti-Virus, firewall and spyware/ad-ware utilities are
the only ones we recommend installing on your system.
McAfee and Norton, both of which are constantly updated
to keep up with all the latest threats, offer some of
the more stable Antivirus utilities. Firewall utilities
are a must on any system connected to the Internet. The
only systems that are not in need of a firewall utility
are those that are completely disconnected form the internet
and will never be connected for any reason. In most cases
this is not true, every pc is connected to the net in
some fashion or other these days and is a potential target
for hackers. We recommend either Black Ice or ZoneAlarm
firewall programs for protection against unwanted access
to your stuff!
We strongly advise against using any total system protection
utilities such as Norton System Works, Norton Utilities,
Norton Cleansweep, Uninstallers, McAfee First Aid, etc.
These types of utilities can create unwanted issues and
cause system instability as well as performance issues.
How often
should I run Scandisk and Defrag?
We recommend that you run a normal Scandisk at least
once a week, a thorough Scandisk at least once a month,
and Defrag about once a week.
How much ventilation
does the computer require?
We recommend approximately one foot of ventilation room
to the front and rear of the case. Enclosed computer
desk cabinets are not recommended and tend to trap heat.
Should I keep
the shipping boxes and packing materials?
Yes, we recommend you keep the original boxes and packing
materials. The original boxes serve great for storage
and protecting the system during a move. We cannot provide
replacement boxes and packing material in the event
of sending the system to us for repair or an upgrade.
I just received my
Custom Window and noticed there are small imperfections
(look like lines ) in the main etched picture? What is
this?
These imperfections are
referred to as "banding". This is an effect of
power fluctuations within the laser etching system and
the process by which the manufacturer made the acrylic, which
occasionally results in this "banding".
We have no way of controlling
the banding on the images etched, but assure you that
there are many level to banding and we will not send
anything out to customers that is below our own personal
standards.
My Blackout v.1 etching has
a cloudy look when I turn on my cathode and light it
from behind. Why is this I thought it was an opaque
Blackout?
The process applied to the
Blackout v.1 images will display this smoky atmospheric
effect when lit. Our BlackOut v.1 etching's are opaque
when no light is being used. If we applied our Blackout
process again to the v.1 etchings then our customers
would have a v.2 type etching which is truly opaque.
